Inorganic Chemistry II

The course "Inorganic Chemistry II" introduces first-year masters' students into modern aspects of the chemistry of non-living matter. We start with an overview of molecular and crystal symmetry. After that, coordination compounds and solid state chemistry are discussed. Modern views of chemical bonding, search for new classes of inorganic compounds are overviewed. If time permits, a closer look at the chemistry of one or several chemical elements shall be pursued.

The course includes excercises in order to apply the theoretical concepts in a more practical context. Computational modelling may be included as appropriate.
